Marrs Bar FAQ’s - Commonly Asked Questions Answered

Shipping & Delivery

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship internationally — order away! The Marrs Bar is heavy and bulky, so shipping is not inexpensive, but it is now available anywhere in the world. If you know of a store or distributor in your area that should carry the Marrs Bar, please reach out and let us know.

Why are shipping costs so high?

Because of the size and weight of the bar, shipping costs can be high. Carrier rates have also increased significantly in recent years due to supply chain challenges and driver shortages. Unfortunately, we have no control over shipping prices set by the carriers but for a long term investment in training smarter it is worth every penny.

How long until my bar ships?

Shipping times depend on the time of year, but most orders ship within a few days.

Will I receive tracking information?

Yes. Once your order ships you will receive an email with tracking information so you can follow the progress of your shipment.

Product Information

New Custom Padding

After over a year of testing, we now use a proprietary injection-mold harness pad.

This new mold no longer requires a vinyl cover. It features a durable outer “skin” that can be cleaned easily, wears longer, and molds to the shoulders better without shifting under weight.

Because of this new design, we no longer produce vinyl covers.

Does the harness come off?

No. The bar and harness are fully welded together and there are no removable parts.

This welded construction helps make the Marrs Bar extremely durable, but it also means the bar is 24 inches wide, which contributes to higher shipping costs.

How much does the Marrs Bar weigh?

The Marrs Safety Squat Bar weighs approximately 65 pounds due to the welded harness system and heavy-duty construction.

What plates work with the Marrs Bar?

The Marrs Bar uses standard Olympic plates with 2-inch center holes, just like most Olympic barbells.

Will the Marrs Bar fit on my squat rack?

Yes. The Marrs Bar is designed to work with most standard power racks, squat racks, and bench racks that accommodate Olympic barbells.

Training & Benefits

What makes the Marrs Bar different from a traditional safety squat bar?

The Marrs Safety Squat Bar uses a unique “backpack” style harness design that distributes weight across the upper back rather than pushing forward like many traditional safety squat bars.

This allows for more natural squat mechanics and reduces stress on the shoulders, neck, and lower back.

Who should use the Marrs Bar?

The Marrs Bar is a great tool for:

• Powerlifters and strength athletes
• Lifters with limited shoulder mobility
• Athletes recovering from shoulder injuries
• Coaches training athletes safely
• Home gym owners looking for versatile specialty bars

Can beginners use the Marrs Bar?

Yes. Many lifters find the Marrs Bar helpful for learning squat mechanics because the harness helps keep the bar stable and encourages a more upright torso.

Can the Marrs Bar help reduce shoulder pain during squats?

Many lifters who struggle with shoulder discomfort when using a straight bar find the Marrs Bar much more comfortable because it removes the need to externally rotate the shoulders.

What exercises can I do with the Marrs Bar?

While primarily designed for squats, the Marrs Bar can also be used for:

• Lunges
• Box squats
• Hatfield squats
• Good mornings
• Split squats

Is the Marrs Bar comfortable under heavy weight?

Yes. The proprietary harness padding distributes the load across the upper back and shoulders, making it significantly more comfortable than most traditional safety squat bars.

Comparing the Marrs Bar

Is the Marrs Bar better than a traditional safety squat bar?

Many lifters feel the Marrs Bar offers advantages over traditional safety squat bars because the backpack-style harness distributes weight more evenly and helps maintain a more natural squat position.

What are the benefits of the Marrs Bar?

The Marrs Bar offers several key benefits including:

• Reduced shoulder strain
• More upright squat position
• Better balance during the lift
• Hands-free training capability
• Increased comfort under heavy weight

Is the Marrs Bar the best safety squat bar?

Many lifters consider the Marrs Bar one of the most unique safety squat bars available because of its backpack-style harness system. Unlike many traditional safety squat bars that push the weight forward, the Marrs Bar distributes the load across the upper back which can create a more natural squat experience.

How is the Marrs Bar different from other safety squat bars?

Most traditional safety squat bars place the weight forward and require the lifter to hold handles in front of the body. The Marrs Bar uses a harness system that allows the bar to sit more naturally across the upper back and shoulders.

Can the Marrs Bar replace straight bar squats?

Many athletes use the Marrs Bar alongside traditional straight bar squats. It can be a valuable training tool for reducing stress on the shoulders and upper body while still allowing heavy squat training.

Should I add a safety squat bar to my gym?

Many lifters consider a safety squat bar one of the most useful specialty bars for strength training. It allows additional squat variations and can help lifters train around mobility limitations or injuries.
